Sponsors Needed

All of the horses in the rescue program, whether available for adoption or part of our sister equine therapy program, Healing Hearts with Horses, need sponsors!  You can sponsor any horse of your choosing for anywhere from $25 and up per month.  So, if you love horses but can't adopt one today, please consider sponsoring one of ours.  Your monthly donation will help us provide the horses with excellent care and training.  All of your donations are tax deductible, and, you can come visit "your" horse during volunteer hours as much as you would like!  Call Deb today at 515-210-2565 to set up a time to visit the horses and choose one to sponsor.

Winter Adoption Special!

Because our space is sparse, and hay is dwindling, we need to get our horses adopted, and quick!  Starting immediately, if you are an experienced horse owner, or are currently working with a trainer, the horse of your choice will be adopted to you for only the adoption fee of $250!  This fee is tax deductible, and no other fees will be added.  Please see the bios of each of our winter special adoptable horses on the adoptable horses page.  Give Deb a call for further information or to meet the horses in person.

Welcome to Horse Heaven Equine Rescue

We are dedicated to giving horses a second chance through rehabilitation, adoption, and becoming part of our sister program, Healing Hearts with Horses.  If you need to surrender your horse for any reason, or you are concerned for a horse's welfare, please call Deb at 515-210-2565 for assistance.

There are many reasons why horses need to be brought to an equine shelter.  Their current owners, through no fault of their own, may no longer be able to financially care for their horses.  Other horses may be brought in because their owners just don't have the time for proper care and handling and want to find a better suited home for their horse.  Still others come because they are considered "killer" horses (deemed dangerous because of violent behavior with current owners) and just need an understanding handler to bring them around.  Then there are those who have been abused, neglected, and unloved.  All of these horses deserve a second chance at a high quality life.

After the horses are rehabilitated and deemed physically and mentally sound, they are ready for adoption!  Please visit the adoptable horses page to see who is currently available for adoption.  Please call Deb to set up a time to get to know the horses, and see if one of them chooses you as their new friend!  Always consider adopting from a shelter, before purchasing from a breeder, no matter what type of animal you are looking to bring into your home.  Don't help perpetuate the problem, be an answer to the problem.

Hay and Grain Donations Needed

Posted February 7, 2010

We are in desperate need of hay and grain donations.  If you, or someone you know, are able and willing to donate any amount of hay (round bales are greatly appreciated, but we accept any good quality blend square or round).  If you can donate grain, please call Deb at 210-2565 so she can discuss which types of grain is needed.  Any amount that can be given is greatly appreciated.  Thank you!
